“Career Opportunities in Participation Finance” Event Held in Kahramanmaraş
An event titled "Career Opportunities in Participation Finance" was organized by Finance Office with the support of Ziraat Katılım and hosted by Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University (KSU).
At the event, while welcome speech made by KSU Rector Prof. Alptekin Yasım, the keynote speeches were given by President of Finance Office Prof. Göksel Aşan, Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Hayrettin Güngör and Ziraat Katılım Chief Executive Officer Metin Özdemir.
Approximately 900 people, including Kahramanmaraş Governor Ömer Faruk Coşkun, provincial protocol, students and academic and administrative staff of the university, participated in the event that we held at KSU, Yunus Emre Congress and Culture Center on 7 December 2022 in order to evaluate the opportunities offered by the participation finance sector in the career field.
“Participation finance field will be one of the most important alternatives of the whole world in the future”
Giving the keynote speech of the event, President of Finance Office Prof. Göksel Aşan stated that they have acted with the idea of what can be done since the first day of Finance Office, and said that they have made great efforts to include the field of participation finance in the career alternatives of especially newly graduated young people. Emphasizing that the most significant work is the “Participation Finance Youth Development Program” organized by the Finance Office, Mr. Aşan said that in this manner, they are targeting students from the faculty of economics and administrative sciences as well as law and other fields.
Mr. Aşan pointed out that the “Participation Youth Development Program” consists of two stages, the first part of which has a capacity of 1,000 people and the second part with 100 successful students among them, and said:
"Actually, the field of participation finance is a field that covers the whole world and will be one of the most important alternatives in the world in the future. Get to know this field and add the field of participation finance to your career alternatives at least. This is the first aim of the program. The second is to offer a professional education to the ones who are willing to continue working in this field. The field of participation is significant for us”.
Stating that the system in question requires serious human resources, Mr. Aşan emphasized that well-trained and highly competent human resources are needed in this field.
“As our President said, the people who will raise a nation to its feet are the children of that nation”.
Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Hayrettin Güngör said in the keynote speech, “People want to live their lives according to their beliefs, not only in the field of finance, but also in many fields from food to clothing. We are very pleased that the participation institutions, founded in 1983, have reached to this stage. Career days activities will also guide our young people at this point. Experts from different professions can give ideas to our young people by explaining the advantages and disadvantages of that job. As our President has stated, the people who will raise a nation to its feet are the children of that nation. I wish success to our young people in their education and working lives”.
“We want İstanbul Financial Center to be the center of Islamic finance as well”
Speaking at the event, Ziraat Katılım Chief Executive Officer Metin Özdemir reminded that Islamic economic studies have gained intensity since the second half of the 20th century and said, "We want İstanbul Financial Center to be the center of Islamic finance as well. But we need qualified human resources to realize it. In this manner, I believe that both your and our sector players’ contribution on education, support and promotion activities will contribute significantly to the training of qualified human resource. Just as İstanbul has the freedom to be the center and capital city of the world, I hope that we will work together to contribute the dream of making İstanbul the center of Islamic finance”.

Making a welcome speech as the host at the opening of the event, KSU Rector Prof. Alptekin Yasım said, “This program we held today will be a panel where students and sector representatives come together, experts in their fields, the field of participation finance for students is introduced and opportunities related to this sector are presented. Within the scope of the aim of bringing the share of participation finance in the total system to the place it deserves, the Finance Office of Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye has carried out important studies and projects since its establishment. The more we can expand the pool of potential human resources in participation finance for institutions, the more we increase career opportunities. I always support these projects and programs in the field of participation finance, and I would like to express my satisfaction to hold of this program at our university”.
Career opportunities in the field of participation finance in Türkiye were evaluated
Following the welcome and keynote speeches of the event, a panel titled “Career Opportunities in Participation Finance” was held for students, where the situation and future of participation finance in our country were evaluated and career opportunities in this field were discussed. Finance Office Participation Finance Department Head Dr. Tarık Akın moderated the panel and Ziraat Katılım Chief Executive Officer Metin Özdemir, Ziraat Katılım Strategy Planning and Human Resources Group Head Arif Baştuğ and Participation Insurance Association General Secretary Dr. Yunus Emre Gürbüz attended as speakers.
