The Banks Association of Türkiye, founded in 1958, is a professional organization which is a legal entity with the status of a public institution. All deposit banks, development and investment banks are obliged to become members. It works to preserve the rights of banks, shares statistics, carries studies, provides training and takes decisions to prevent unfair competition. The Association also has arbitration panels for resolving disputes between the banks and their retail customers. The Association gathers and shares risk information about customers of financial institutions under its Risk Center operations.
